Problem:

If the Eduss Mathematics installer is pops up and tries to install the software continually you may need to remove the mathematics software from the registry.

Windows attemtps to reinstall components from the Eduss CD-ROM.

Windows is attempting to locate shared components for another program

Cause:

Eduss Mathematics components have been deleted from the computer. This may have been removed by another program when it was uninstalled or may have been removed for another reason.

Solution:

Download registry patch -OR- manually remove key

Download the registry patch:

  • Download the this reg file here http://www.eduss.com/support/files/RegFix_MathMSI.reg
    • Right click on the link above and select "save target as" or "save link as"
    • Select a location that will be easy for you to find, such as your desktop.
  • Once you have downloaded the RegFix_MathMSI.reg file you should then find the file where you saved it.
  • Double click AutoInstallRemoval(.reg) and you will be prompted with a question: "Are you sure you want to add the information in RegFix_MathMSI.reg to the registry?"
  • Click on "Yes" to remove the keys.
  • You should then see a prompt: "Information in RegFix_MathMSI.reg has been successfully entered into the registry."
  • If you do not see this prompt, you recieve an error, or this does not solve your problem: please call Eduss Technical Support at 303-779-0266 or email support@eduss.com

Manually removing eduss software from the registry

If you are having trouble downloading the registry patch or would prefer to remove the key yourself, please follow the instructions below.

Whenever you are editing you Windows registry it is important to remember that you risk the possibility of damaging your computer. Please be sure to follow the instructions precisely.

  1. There are three keys that need to be removed:
    1. HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Features\3261D12A364FC1B4488C3AB113ED848B
    2. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Installer\Features\3261D12A364FC1B4488C3AB113ED848B
    3. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Installer\Products\3261D12A364FC1B4488C3AB113ED848B

(if you are running the school version, this "name" my be different [5879D891AB318C54BBFC0565E9538888] )

Example of removing a key from the registry:

  1. Click on Start, then click on Run
    1. In the run dialog box, type “regedit” without the quotes.
    2. When the Registry Editor loads, expand the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT folder, to view all of its subfolders.
    3. Open the Installer folder.
    4. Open the Features folder.
    5. Remove the folder with the name 3261D12A364FC1B4488C3AB113ED848B as shown in figure 1.
